Gas smell
My 1967 Lemans convertible emits a very strong smell of gasoline and it makes the garage smell of gas too.
Not that it should matter but the engine is a 468 (400 with Eagle stroker crank and rods), with SD ported heads, custom Diamond pistons, and a big solid roller cam (.685 lift with lots of duration), Torker II with a 950HP on top. It has an LS1 pump for an evac set up from the vavle cover. The car has a fuel cell in the trunk with all braided lines and A/N fittings. I checked the whole fuel line from the fuel cell to the carb. No leaks. I checked all the filters, regulators, A/N fittings and again no leaks. There is never any gas under the car. It does have a line coming out of the fuel cell to the underside of the trunk. I have a loop in it. Should I put a filter on that too?? I have gone as far as shutting off the car and letting it sit outside for hours and pushed it in to the garage and it still smells. Where is the smell coming from and how do I eliminate it? Please help because wife is getting upset.

I'd be suspicious of the braided line.
As a temporary solution, well, let's just say that race gas smells a lot better. Seriously, spray Febreze around the place before she gets near it. |

yes, the braided rubber hose is a known issue with the additives in gas.
