Thumbs up Bullitt 2012

I was watching a mediocre show last night, Alcatraz. I enjoy it for the mystery and especially the lead detective drives a 68 Mustang fastback clone of Bullitt's. It gets a scene every show and I enjoy seeing a car that influenced my car guyness at a very early age. I am a huge fan of the movie and know every shift that Steve McQueen makes in the movie btw.
So the bad guy hot wires a black charger and the detective grabs a new Mustang from a passerby. The black charger pulls up to a stop light to the right of a taxi, looks in the mirror and sees the Mustang. He buckles his seatbelt and the chase is on!
When I saw the charger at the stop light, I start getting excited thinking that there is NO way they will be doing this, but there is a lot of Bullitt in the show.
They did a real good job using the exact same locations, camera angles and most of the VW's and taxi's. They did miss the white 67 Firebird just as the bad guy launches, and the hubcap falling off the charger on the right hand turn at the wall, but hey, I will still give it an A.
Here is a link to watch the scene again if you missed it.

Long live the memory of Steve McQueen!

Oh and my wife was completely annoyed at me being able to recite the scenes before they were happening. i.e overshoot turn, slam in reverse, smoky wheelhop slam into 1st and smoke to the right.

Have some time at lunch and found some articles about the Bullitt tribute.

For a TV show with limited budget and time, it was a good tribute for sure.

I haven't seen the show... not sure if it's even on the stations we get here.

I do have the original 'Bullitt' move on dvd and watch it every so often. I also have the move "The War Lover' with McQueen. They are classics.... and long live the memory of Steve McQueen.

Cool! thanks for posting, I haven't caught that show after the first few episodes. Seemed a little rough for my 2 boys (8 & 10) and we usually watch TV together.

I absolutely love Steve McQueen's mustang, my brother owns a 2009 Mustang Bullitt, (I like the 2009 body style better than the new ones, but love that new 5.0!)

Boater, I was thinking the same thing while watching that scene, the 2012 version of the Bullitt car chase.
