Missing the original rear - 12 bolt rear was only 455 cars in 1970. Probably got changed back in the day - - was easier to source a complete A body 3.55 rear than to change out gears. Someone got tired of 4.33's on the interstate. Scott

VERY strangely optioned GTO . . .
I'd have never guessed one could order 4.33s on a 350-horse 70 GTO.

Shrewd first buyer.
Think about it, he would have had big performance out of that car with the 4.33 axle which cost original owner peanuts. Considering upgrade cost of RA III and IV he got pretty stout GTO for very little money.

Vert, tripple black and a manual.. would have been happy with that
I will guess the auction ends in the mid 20's.. Nah.. not for me, a -70 HT with a -71 front clip would be perfect... |

Does it look like the trunk has been replaced then rusted out again? There is a long seam at the back edge.

It always makes me laugh when the owner of a car points out a rare option as a selling point but the rare option is no longer on the car. How can this possibly be considered a survivor with a different color, engine, rear axle and judge options added? Other than that it looks like a fun car.

there can't be too many of them, but my '70 had the 350 horse motor with 4.33 gears originally. And all power options...strange. The 4.33's are long gone, and I'm ok with that...

And just for historical attribute, Bruce Bethel operated Bethels Goat Farm out of California, not Nevada. I bet this is a really really nice car overall and someone will be super happy with it. Hope they put Raised White Letters on it though. |

On the build sheet, it looks like it went to (charge to) zone 83 - Dealer 789?
I don't have anything on this. Zone 82 and 86 is Canadian dealers. Possibly sent to Canada 1st?

The Invoice is one of the old PMD Freebies.
If someone were to ever request Invoice again - from PHS - this is a car that would have had more than one Invoice. If it were still on file, would tell a little more about where it went when it left factory. Other than that - idunno. Doubt it will ever get PHS'd though. Nothing much to gain other than some potential there is another invoice. |

Where does it say 4.33 gears? This was a WT code 350hp car right? Std gears would have been 10 bolt 3.55s. With the special order axle code this was probably a 3.90 gear car.
It does look like an interesting car however. I would be putting a WT back into it and harvesting the WS and IV heads for my other projects. |

Dunno if I really believe that Pontiac would sell a 4.33 geared WT car either . . .

Well then, there you go . . .
Why on earth would someone order a 5000 RPM engine with 4.33s? Maybe he had an 8500 RPM 302 chebbie transplant in mind?????
