Verdoro Green
I will soon be having our body shop painting my '68 GTO. i am going with the original Verdoro green. I have search PY for info on this color and have only found older posts, has anyone recently painted a '68 as I understand 67/68 Q code is the same and 69/70 are different. We use PPG Delton at our shop. I've found 43745 PPG on a lot of sites and wonder if this is going to be correct or close. Thanks Tom ps I found these two pictures and think this is the color or shade I am looking for?

I had my '64 GTO painted Verdoro Green in 1968. I was told later there was a difference between Verdoro Greens from different years. I decided that all Verdoro Greens were the same--just that since matching the color for repairs was so difficult the "different versions" were just an excuse used by the body shop.
In any case, whether the various years versions were the same color, they were all very close to the same. If you're painting your '68, no one but you will ever know which Verdoro Green was used.

I think you will find more variation in paint mfg matches than there was in the original colors since many of the original tint bases can't be exactly replicated in modern paints. All I know is I think 90% of the first gen firebirds were verado green. I bought 4 69 firebird projects, all from different places and all 4 were original verado green. I looked at buying a 68 firebird as well, and it too was verado. crazy!

The code did change between 68 and 69. I don't know why. It wasn't changed because the color wasn't selling! Comparing my vintage color chips reveals a definate difference in color. There are many mixes out there, probably none are exactly correct. I prefer the brighter, more metallic versions that pick up a golden tint in the sun.

It's Voodoo Green baby! It's psychedelic!
Great color when done right, and very appropriate for the times. It's as identifiable to Pontiac as Carousel Red & Orbit Orange.

Well...
our '69 Verdoro GLOWED when it came out of the paint booth. This car had a $300 [at the time] acrylic enamel paint job on it! Took the code off the tag...got this. Won 1st at '87 GTOAA Nat's...when there was only one "First Place" per class and it actually meant something. Also featured in "Guide to Muscle Cars"...only GREEN feature car I can recall. Just sayin'. Ron

Did my Bird in Sikkens autowave. Color has a different sheen to it because of the clear. Make sure you use a very good clear, kid was saying the dealership he was at was buying the sikkens clear for autowave and at a bulk price it was coming out to about $1100 gal. Small shops would have to pay a few hun more so some have stayed with their normal clear.

Tekheavy, was that a recent paint job and would you remember whose paint? Since getting this car a year ago and listening to everyone say paint it red, black or any color but green I can say I am getting excited about Verdoro green after seeing some of you guys pictures. Just trying to nail down the correct or say close to the correct shade. I originally posted that I found PPG 43745 but our suppler says PPG doen't make it anymore but can get it in Globe 43745.

My version of Verdoro Green, painted this summer with PPG paint...I would note it is not nearly as sunny in my photo as tekheavy's which will influence what you see. As far as the color, I would agree with PaulatFast in that after looking at multiple cars at POCI this summer before painting my car, "I prefer the brighter, more metallic versions that pick up a golden tint in the sun." It may not look like it here, but under full sun it does.

Yep...
and you probably know the story....color was "suggested" to DeLorean by his wife! I love it, myself...but that's just me. Happy New Year! Ron

Going to shows I've come across two or three other 68's that are supposed to be verdoro green. None were the same color as mine. Like Paul said its got a lot of gold when the sun shines on it.

I'm looking into doing the paint on mine this winter. It's currently wearing a 1991 respray of a color that was in the ballpark of Verdoro. I want to say it was a Chrysler or Mercedes color. I've often toyed with the idea of dumping Verdoro in favor of a less common color but it sure is a pretty color when it's fresh.

Ken,
Stick with Voodoo - you don't want to have to change your user ID.
