Hi guys, im sure this has come up before but I spent some time searching the forums and didnt get much, so.....

I'd like to know who makes the best fitting full quarter panel for a 1969 firebird convertible, I avoid reproduction sheetmetal where ever I can but now I have no choice. I'd like to hear about your experiences.

I had fitment issues with multiple Classic parts - wouldn't recommend them.

I am guessing there is only one source given the limited market size. AMD does not make them and they would have been a good choice. Given that I would shop for best price. I used Dynacorn quarters. They were OK, not great but OK. Some tweaking was needed but that is pretty much expected.

As far as I know the X in the AMD part number means they are not AMD tooling and stampings. You might want to investigate further.

I replaced both of mine on my wifes 69 firebird convertible. They were Dynacorn products. I had to trim some around the front door striker area which was easy. Moderate amount of adjustment playing with the new inner rocker/trunk extension and the outer wheelhouse. It fits good but it took some patience to do. The corner edge next to the trunk lid is more rounded than the original and can be built up with welding and grinding into shape. Please let me know if you have any more questions as I have just done this. Oh and 90% of the process was using 3m Body adhesive. Really made short work of welding and grinding.

Doc, id love more info and progress pics please,
i dont mind being patient with fitment just so long as the panel 'can' fit. I recently welded 400 scoops to a 350 hood, took some time to get it dead on, replaced full floors awhile back, other than that never really attempted anything like this before.

Where did you buy the dynacorn panels & what did they cost?


btw... PY says their RH panel needs some work, does anybody know what brand PY stock?

Don, I spoke to a guy from AMD and he confirms that the X part numbers are not thier tooling. So i guess its Dynacorn then.

Tony, I will get some pics tomorrow or sunday when I get back out to the shop. Bought the parts from NPD because they are right down the road and I was able to save a ton in shipping.

So I've been thinking, maybe I should get just the quarter skin. My butt welding is pretty good so why not?

Only thing is, I need to know if the skin includes the section that meets the tail panel.

Any pics of the rear end of a quarter skin will be much appreciated.
