My son has a 20 gallon freshwater aquarium and we are looking to go on a 2-week vacation around the beginning of the year, so I'm looking for an automatic feeder. A search on the web finds a bunch of them, all with mixed reviews, so I'm asking here. What do you guys recommend?

Years ago, we used to do 2 weeks trips and leave our fish. We basically had a really good filter, and used those food chunks that were made to leave in the tank for long periods of time. It wouldn't surprise me if there were better ways now though.

As you are probably aware fish can go days without a feeding and be fine. I get a neighboor to come in every few days and feed mine when gone and therefore never used a automatic feeder or read reviews. What I'm leading up to is the thought about not spending extra dollars for a advanced version that has the capacity to feed 2-3 times a day and has additional storage capacity to do so. Presumbing they are less expensive consider a simple unit to feed less often if they exist.
