30k Original Miles? I Don't Think So!
Even IF the title says only 30,000 miles, why would it need a complete restoration? Why would the original engine be missing? And why would the original rear end be replaced with a Ford rear. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1964-...item336c26974f
And even if, by the remote possibility it was the original mileage, with the car in this condition, would it help the sale? Not to me. I don't understand the seller's of cars in conditions like this would tout their supposed 'low mileage' when it would make no difference to a knowledgeable buyer. A pet peeve of mine.

When it's needing that much TLC I don't think the miles mean a damn thing -

mileage is something you'd question no matter what car you'd purchase regardless of condition. isnt it? perhaps, probably, the engine, rear, and trans were replaced back in the 80's or early 90's when these cars in original condition werent worth anything. probably someone wanted to go racing w/ this. maybe it doesnt help the sale but the odometer reading is something you'd ask about...isnt it? so he posted it. without original ball joints and other stuff there's no way to tell if it's original mileage. looks like a cool project to me; but i'm no expert. |

The only evidence he seems to offer supporting the 30,000 original miles claim is that the mileage exempt box isn't checked on the registration.
Doesn't look like a low miles car but it does look like a decent project...I really don't care about mileage on a 30~50 year old car unless it's an exceptionally low mileage survivor status car. Wonder how much he thinks it's worth?

30K Original Miles
Restoration almost complete? Wow, that's good news. I had no idea the '66 convertible that has been sitting untouched in my garage for 15 years was almost restored, but according to this ad it is.

I have seen a few prior drag cars with low miles in this condition. Just a comment.....

Yes, but would you make it a selling point in your ad?

All in all, no matter how much a car is modified, when it comes time to sell, they always try for its "originality". This includes miles. If its got low miles, why not mention it?> even if it was stripped and raced..

It might as well say" rust free desert car, needs parts,non-original, good car to restore" Call for details $4000.00 OBO
Jerry, I can turn an odometer from a 64 GTO to any mileage you want, in about two minutes. Larry B.

Actually, it would only require 60,000 runs to reach 30K miles.

That math works for a lap IF the shutdown area isn't included. It's close to a mile per pass when you think about it.
