Default 1965-grill tempest vs gto

im looking into changing the grill of a 65 tempest to a gto look. i noticed the tempest has a 1 piece look to it and the gto has a two piece grill with a center piece in between. Does the tempest have the center piece behind the grill or is this an ad on piece. Thanks. ( i would look but i dont have car near)

Default ultamate GTO site

You may find a good pic of one here. I use the site as a reference material.

The Tempest has a one piece aluminum grille and a different hood latch than the GTO. The GTO has the same lower grille surround that the Tempest has, but the Tempest lacks the upper part. I can get you pics of all of it if you like since I have been working on that part of my 65, and I have Tempest parts here from the parts car.

Tempest grille is one-piece aluminum. GTO has upper and lower header panel and two grilles, 4 pieces total. The lower panel is interchangeable between GTO/Tempest/Lemans. I have a spare header panel and grilles if you are interested.

Stick with the tempest grill!!

1) its more unique than a gto/lemans grill (they are like belly buttons, everyone has one)

2 ) its lighter

3) easier to assemble in car

4) looks better!!!
