Default Test/Remove heater core from 2nd Gen Firebird

I have a 70 Formula 400 that I am rebuilding the engine and tranny. The A/C hoses had been bypassed prior to my ownership of the car. This tells me that the heater core was leaking and that was the temp fix? So, I want to be able to make sure that the heater core is okay before re-installing the engine.

Is there a way to test the heater core?

Also, are there any manuals on how to remove/replace the core from a 2nd Gen?

AC as in air conditioning?

Not sure how to test it other than to pressurize it and look for the dripping water.

There are factory assembly guides for many pontiac cars, they are used by the factory to assemble the car. I dont know if copies are available for a 70 fire bird but if they are then your should get one, as they are very detailed. and usefull.
