Default 1970 455 GTO on eBay

According to the seller, this car has the ultra rare 455 ram air IV option. This is a special "executive order" car. Must be one of one. lol

Nice GTO. Too bad its got LeMans tires on it...

It sure does have a lot of the "good stuff" on the options list.

RUF has been around forever. Very well known Porsche center. I think it's just a case
of the sales guy not knowing how to word it properly. Their scene is Porsche 911 turbos and for a long time they were the go to place on getting a nice one.

The 455 RA was available for the 70 GTO. But Pontiac never made a 455 RAIV engine.

If you look closely at the PHS photo, it shows the '455 4bbl HO' engine option near the top of the second column. It is a 455 HO that was also ordered with Ram Air. The seller must know enough to see the round port heads, but not that it's a 455HO and not a RAIV. My money says the heads are 64's

64s aren't round ports!

How strange is it to see a vehicle this loaded, near the end of the model year build?

I know the mechanic that refreshed this car. The car was originally purchased by a woman in Maine and eventually made its way to New Mexico. It was owned by an airline pilot for many years before coming to Dallas. All the mechanicals, suspension and electrical were gone through and updated, replaced etc. The car drives like a new GTO.

The kicker to the eBay sale is the car needs a paint job and has a small amount of rust in the edges of the lower quarters.

I'm sure that he'd edit the listing if someone emailed him and explained the HO vs. RA issue

He does have both a 1970 D-port 455 HO engine AND Ram Air on that car... PHS highlighted Air Inlet-HD (Ram Air)

Looks like a good kept and well preserved car thats had some nice attention given to it.
Nice option list for sure !

70 455 HO/RA was very low production.
From memory its 241 Auto and 302 Stick

The added on big manifolds are real nice touch and always welcomed.
Not friends with hood pins.
Lemans tires on a GTO is kinda just not right

And i think almost certain the HD Battery option was side post
- or was that just for HD Batt with Air Cond ... ?

Should have 3.31 gears and a 7040273 carbonator

I'd be proud to own this machine.
But seriously think the educated market stops before 30k, on these in this condition.
And he's asking 90k
Stock up on mothballs and fuel preservative friend

Yes I agree some 455HO cars had RA in 1970. It would of been great if pontiac made a 455 RAIV back in 70. I think it would of been the top dog.

There is a lot to like about that car.

Difficulty: The Formula Wheel (Black) on a Sandlewood Column is a tough call. I suspect the Column would have a paint coding for a Black column with the Black Formula wheel.

My brother's 70 OO Judge calls for the Formula Wheel, and I'm forgetting if the Broadcast sheet shows how the column was to be coded ( Black or Sandlewood). Despite that his 70 OO Judge NOW has a Sandlewood column with a Pontiac 3-spoke Sandlewood steering wheel, that looks super.

My understanding is the 70 formula wheel was only available in black and was not color keyed to the interior color.

455HO with Ram Air, but not "Executive Ordered" as the car went to a dealership instead of a zone, Pontiac HQ or Engineering.

Nicely optioned car!
