Any idea when the Rally IIs will be ready? Will they be made of steel?

They need some color in the solid area or webbing to add some depth perception.
they look good from an angle but look flat when viewed from the side .... or is it the camera / pics ?

I emailed YO back in Dec regarding the Rally II's. They replied that there was no plan to make a 17" Rally II.

One would think they'd have done the Rally II first. That's a much larger potential sales pool than a few years of production of cars that came with Honeycombs.

People who emailed them about the Honeycombs got that same stock answer....
Someone fairly well up at Year One posts over on Transamcountry, he was the first to advise that the Hoineycombs were coming....he's the guy I heard that they were looking at Rally IIs, but having some issues with designs to be faithful to the Rally II look...and they were talking cast alloy, not steel. They are already doing the early Z28 wheels in cast alloy...

I think they nailed it with this wheel, so I'm hoping the Rally II turns out OK as well.

Dont know that I agree. There are plenty of people that have cars that came with Rallys who would upgrade to Honeycombs and say the hell with originality. Especially since the cars were available with them as an option. So I think there may be more market for Honeycombs actually. Its a better looking wheel in my opinion, and the only downside they ever had was the way they were made originally.

Asthetics aside, the Rally II debuted in what? 1967? and was produced through the mid 70's, on virtually every car that Pontiac made, while the Honeycomb was introduced in like 1971, and was only used for a few years, 1974 or so? and was offered only on A and F bodys, right? I'm not that knowledgeable about Honeycombs, so correct me if I'm wrong.

I wonder what a 1st gen firebird or Grand Prix would look like with Honeycombs on it.

I hope that's the case, and the response I got was from a worker bee that didn't feel like picking up the phone and asking.

I'll be the first to pick up a set of Rally II's. I think Honeycombs look great on second Gen F bodies, and even 71-72 A bodies, but somehow I don't think they'd look great on my '70.

You are correct....there are more cars that came with Rallys. I just wonder whether they will sell as many rallys as Honeycombs.

and they're about 7 pounds per wheel heavier! I think the Rally II would be a much larger audience because they are better looking, in my opinion.

I agree, I'd buy the Rally II if they do it right before the Honeycomb because that's the look I prefer, hope they do it.
All the expensive billet type Rally II's out there now do not look right, almost every issue of HPP mag has a car with some form of a big Rally II and I don't like them.

...a 17" white letter tire for the Honeycomb or Rally II is needed to complete the sporty muscle car look, that's a must in my book

My suspension mods are as follows:
600lb front springs, car lowered 3".
DSE 3" drop springs in rear, 275lb/in I think
Front suspension has F-body tubular upper arms, stock lower arms, stock brakes.
The rear has the s10 brake conversion with the parking brake drum. (about an extra 1/4" wider than stock).

I also moved my rear leafsprings in 2" for a minitub, but that won't effect the way the rear fits on everyone else's car.

Car sits and rides fairly low. I may need to lift it up 1". I drive several lowered vehicles, however, so I'm used to it.

70455HOVERT,
The honeycombs were avail from 1971-76. There's lots of them out there. I even put them on my '77 when I was in H.S.

Mas photos? I'll see what I can do. I've already put some anniversary gold on these wheels, and its stunning. But I also got permission to send the rears out for widening. I'll get a photo soon.

I was told by Year One to expect the Rally II in the same 17" x 9" cast aluminum by April or May. There is a picture of the Rally II on YearOne's Facebook page.
