Arrow Steam engine!?

There was some pictures for sale on ebay awhile back that were supposedly GM official, it showed some engineers lowering a steam engine into a '69 Gp prototype that had grills around the headlamps like that one. I wondered where that car might be, question answered! Can't beleive he didn't talk about it... maybe it's a sore subject.

Couple links about the GP steam engine car...don't know if that's what Jay has but I suppose it could be.

I thought read on the 1969 GP steam prototype car once, they lengthened the fenders and hood another 14" more than stock for the bigger steam engine. The Chevelle had a smaller power plant.

No that's a long hood !

I sat in the steamer and steered it onto the transport trailer when it was displayed at POCI a few years ago...While about 10 other guys pushed...

very nice car with a few options no miles of course except testing. Nice concept but didn't work very well since it had about 100 or so hp. Was extended between the front wheel and cowl to fit the steam engine.

I wonder if it is one of those ideas that would benefit from computer control like the Caddy-4-6-8 idea becoming displacement on demand.

The absolute correct thing to do is repair the steam engine thats in the car. Second best is to build a KILLER Pontiac motor( RA V, CV1, Victor pro port, Tiger, heads;IA2-Mr1 block with all the extras. ( Spending Jay,s money is fun.) With this these words should not be used in this discussion; chevy, crate, LS1237, 572, bitchin or bad things might happen.

Did you catch the GM Hybrid car in the same issue of Popular Science??? Scroll down past the Chevelle.

SO how did Leno get the GP steamer? That is the car from the articles and that was displayed at POCI. Must have come out of the GM auction?
