Default Richard "Dick" Winters, RIP

The WWII officer who was portrayed in the HBO mini-series "Band of Brothers" passed on 1/2/11 at the age of 92. I just learned of this from an article in today's paper.

Yes, Sorry to read that too. The Movie made him famous, but he was a Hero for a far longer period of time, imo.

RIP Sir.

That is a guy who deserved to live to 92. A great American hero, and leader.

He served in the 101st Airbourne. Half of the firebases in Viet Nam where the 101st were deployed were named after them. My favorite was Firebase Bastogne on the road to the A Shau Valley near Hamburger Hill.
The Band of Brothers set the bar high for any unit after their exploits in Europe. RIP brother.
