Default Weight of bare Pontiac iron block?

I guessed about 150 with the caps, how close was I?

Go with 150, if they catch it & weigh it, then you'll just have to pay the difference.

Enough to make your nuts know you picked one up and put it in the truck by yourself!

I'd guess 150 / 160. I used to know but forgot!

That's the only problem I've ever had with a lifted truck, putting a block in there by yourself!!! LOL!

I slid a bare 455 block out of the back of my GMC pickup into a wheel barrow. It weighted enough to mash the tailgate into the wheel barrow skinning up the tail gate.
I've decided that it's a two man job.

OK, if I got it balanced right on the bathroom scale ?? It (455) weighed 174 with caps

When I was getting my 72 YC 455 block and my 72 400 blocks machined I found the 400 to be heavier. I could always man-handle the 455 from cart to truck but found mysellf needing help or the hoist for the 400. The 455 was also filled to the bottom of the frost plugs

Didn't crush the pallet I pinched from behind the local hardware store. I go out in the garage and stare at it.
