Default Most popular colours in 69

Read ads and many times people write: REAR colour on car.Everybody seems to have a rear colour. So my question is: Anybody have a list for for the most popular colour and down.I believe Verdoro Green was Nr1?

Do you mean "Rare" color?

There certainly seems to be a lot of "rare" colors out there....

(lol)

- and no, I don't think Verdoro Green was incredibly popular, at least not at my house.

Seems like I can't swing a dead cat without hitting a verdoro green '69...

ASPCA Disclaimer: My 3 cats were not harmed in the measurement of the sheer number of verdoro green 1969 Pontiacs at the Ranch.

Agree with the abundance of Verdoro green cars. Next would be Antique gold, too many...

For 69 the first 5000 Judges were supposed to be Carosel Red. That would certainly make it the top one or two colors. I still think Verdoro Green would be #1.

Don't worry about your spelling. I've been spelling Engish for 50 years and still can't spell.

Verdoro Green was Pontiac GTO's flag ship color for those years. For 69 the first 3000 Judges were Carousel Red.

In the late 60's early 70's each GM division was allowed one exclusive color, guess what Pontiac's was?
Yes Verdoro green, that is why so many 68-70 Pontiac's are this color.
I honestly love the color and when I see it, I think of Pontiac, because every Pontiac I saw growing up as a kid was verdoro green.
By the way Buicks special color in 1970 was Burnished saddle. How many 70 Buick GS cars have you seen in that shade?
Never forget the earth tones were very hip and in Vogue back in the day.

Verdoro Green all the way for popular colors. Nowadays though it seems Orbit Orange is a popular color as well.
I still can't decide if I want to paint my car the original Verdoro Green for originality purposes, I do kinda like the color but can't decide. Either that or Nightwatch Blue, Aleutian Blue or Alpine Blue. Seems to me though that these cars really "pop" with a vibrant gloss color.

Verdoro green is a very nice color when freshly painted. I have always been partial to blue or black cars... but when I bought my '70 Lemans Sport that color (Verdoro green) really won me over and I decided against a future color change (Atoll Blue was my first choice).

I like verdoro green . looks real nice with nice paint job. not too good faded.

My favorite is Liberty Blue in 69.

Thank you... she has been a great car and I'll miss cruising around in her during the loooong Michigan winter to come.

No love for the original color of mine? (Champagne)

That's OK, I don't like it either. Just to tick off the purists, mine's going to be Mitsubishi Metallic Sunburst Orange (an Eclipse color) when the time comes. There's hardly any original matching parts on the car anyway, so why not?

If I look at my listing of Colors in my 69 GTO PHS collection here is what I have (I omitted Carousel since Judges are way over represented in my collection):

Verdoro at 9.3%
Liberty** at 9%
Matador and Midnight about 5-6%
Warwick***, Palladium, starlight and Antique are 5-6%
Cameo, Expresso, Limelight, Crystal*** and Mayfair about 4-5%
Burgundy is 2.7%, Windward*** 1.5%, Champagne 0.8% and Goldenrod .4%

Carousel accounts for 62% of my Judges so if you add a bit for non Judges in that color Carousel comes in about 6% of production or about 5th place behind Midnight.

Disclaimer:
All of this is based on just over 500 PHS's or less than 1% of production so take it all with a grain of salt.
***Also the blues (including Crystal turquoise) are probably a bit over represented since I got quite a few from a fellow who collected only blue car PHS's
