I don't know where AP gets their info, but May 31, 2010 was the last official date Pontiac was in business as far as I knew. And now according to them, GTO doesn't stand for the translation of Grand Touring Homologated it means ready to race???? great article....LMAO

Sadder still is how GM decided the last Pontiac built was some boring rental fleet sedan. Nice way to close the show, knobs.

Here's my little preaching I did on the subject when I first heard the plan to cut Pontiac.

pontiac died in the late 70's.... it became some crossline engine wearing a pontiac name after that... the new gto...lol rebadge aussie product, everyone else is restyling to retro and gm puts a fabeled name plate on a cavalier with a chebby motor...

lets not kid ourselves, OUR pontiac died when the car guys were removed from the decision making process at gm

btw... love this line...

Remember when NASCAR wasn't just for rednecks, and the cars really were unique to their builder/racers?

I'll have to agree with the gentileman from TN. If you were alive then - you knew it was over when they made a GTO that looked like a Nova.

The new GTO was a redeeming machine, but too little too late.

Why they chose Halloween at this late date to declare the death is beyond me. Unless of course that guy bought the last Pontiac that was at any dealer anywhere.
