Factory correct rear tri-carb arm
Can anyone tell me or share a picture of what would be the factory correct rear passenger carb arm on a 66 tripower? I see folks saying "100%" original set ups but the rear pass. arm is both 2 hole and a slotted single hole. Please help.
thanks |

On a 66 Tri-Power, the two hole arm is correct for the rear carb. The single slotted hole is correct for the front carb. The link mounts in the forward hole in the rear carb and should be centered in the slotted hole in the front carb. Jim

60's stuff, I see your center carb has a vacuum fitting under the float bowl, pass side. I did not know the Pontiac trips used this. Thanks for the picture.

Here's a shot of the rear carb from my '66 Tri-Power that I bought as a complete running setup. I'm guessing it's an original '66 rear carb, however there were some minor mods done by a previous owner which involved smoothing out the casting flash on the intake and replacing the original slotted head carb screws with socket head cap screws (Allen head).

b-man,
That rear carb has the front carb arm. You can tell by the elongated slot for the front to rear link. The adjustment is to center the link in this slot on the front carb so it has some play to allow for heat expansion. Also the screw holding the arm on should be slotted, not an allen screw as in the carb in the picture. Lot's of stuff happens in the over 40+ years since these cars and parts left the factory! Jim

Other hole use
As seen in the pic below the middle hole is required on the rear carb arms for the vacuum actuated units.

My bad, I posted the wrong picture since I'm not all that familiar with the details on these carbs. This should be the correct one. Bart |
