Talking Y&T

Metal band in the '80s, anyone into them? Play(d) alot on East Coast particularly. Big hair of course but great metal sound of that era!

Now then, does anyone know where they got their name from and why?

Yesterday and today. They are from close by here. I've seen a lot of live bands and they are one of the best live performers ever. I've seen them 7 or 8 times.

Yup...they named the band after the Beatles album. Dave has said in interviews back in the 80's it was his favorite Beatles album of all time and was very influental to him. I've got a couple of their albums on vinyl, including the one that put them on the map nationally - Mean Streak.

And their other big hit that got more radio airplay, that's a bit more of a "pop" tune. This one came after Mean Streak:

"My hair is long I got my red Reebok's on. Yeah I'm looking pretty cool!"

"The Kid Goes Crazy" is one of their best songs!

Right on Guys! That's just hard drivin' metal like it outa be, geed riffs, rythum guitar, vocals, drums not to complex. "BLACK TIGER"

From East Bay area of SFO, did not initially realize; thought of the East Coast first.

I've never considered Y&T to be a metal band. Hard rock, definately...but no metal band would ever release "Summertime Girls".

Now I remember this one more than the other one. I probably had this album. It was a long time ago.
