Guys,
Brought the car into town for tinkering. Before I put my Cliff's rebuild on there, is there anything to look into ta' make sure I don't "blow-out" anything like an accellerator pump or internals with a backfire or mishap on fireup? Because, got the ignition dwell and timing right on, but the E-750 seems to be loading-up and running rich; at idle I distinguish sooty smoke at the pipes and I haven't tuned that out of there yet. Even sitting overnight, the gas filter is completely full; this has not been the case in the past and saying that, it ran great all Summer & when I put the car away last year. Hell of a sucking noise from the carb. too! Just seems to be getting too much gas to me, drives fairly "frumpy" up to about 50 MPH. Seems to be a bit lowder than normal but goes alright after that. I'll do the tune-up checks all again, check/gap the plugs right now in the meantime. But what do you guys think before I just put the rebuilt Q-jet right on there instead? Mike.

Could well be Shawn,
OK, just got done tossin' spark plugs, alls well there. But I notices as I happened to be shaking the car around with that service, the fuel level in the filter dropped by 1/2. Float could've been huh?? Not anxious to start the car thoughat this point.
