Default 71 Fremont Vinyl Top Code

Did Fremont, CA use the same vinyl top codes 1, 2, 5, 7, and 9 as the other plants? I'm trying to decode this trim line --> 257 B80 53 E

257 = Lt. Sandlewood interior(Lemans)
53 = Quezal Gold

Anyone know these other B80 and "E" codes? Thanks

Thanks! So the best guess is that Fremont used letters A, B, E, G, I for vinyl top colors? The car I'm looking at seems to have a sandlewood top/Quezal paint combo.

A = White
B = Black
E = Sandlewood
G = Dark Brown
I = Dark Green

Just a wild a$$ guess ........

I think I found the B80 = Roof Drip Moldings.

I have a 71 Freemont car and the codes are supposed to be as follows

A = white
B = black
E = sandalwood
F = dark brown
G = drak green

there are numbers for the colors for invoicing (build shheet) and they are, in order as above 1,2,5,7,9

Im fairly sure they are the same for all plants.

My 71 Fremont-built car is: Jade Green Interior, Roof Drip, Cameo White, and White Vinyl Top

Cowl Tag: 266 - B80 - 11- A

PHS invoice shows Color: C1 and Trim: 66.

Build Sheet:
Box 77 Trim = 266
Box 78 Top = WHT
Box 79 Color = 11 A ---19 (Not sure what the ---19 means..Carpet or soft trim maybe?)

My Fremont Built 71 GTO trim tag shows an E which I believe stands for the Sandalwood Cordova top. The various Identification guides I have show the Cordova tops to be numbered with 5 being sandalwood.

I think GoatFF71 has the right codes. All my books have number codes too. Looks like they used both?

If I'm not mistaken all plants used a letter code for Cordova and convertible tops and a number code for the paint.

Of course GM being GM they used the opposite on the PHS, number for the tops and letter code for the paint.

Same mess with date codes on engine versus trim tags, all reversed!

BJ, on the 19, the '70 build sheets used it to identify a stripe color. Any special decals on yours?

Not that I am aware of - the PHS doesn't show anything. Copies of build sheet and PHS invoice attached. Let me know if you see anything. It would be cool to find out it had the vinyl stripe option but it got left off of the Invoice.

Box 80 on the '70 BS was labeled W/HOSE and had the same TAPE listed in it. BJ, I already looked at copy of your BS before posting. Couldn't find any pictures of your car. I was thinking more along the lines of 455 HO (or CID) decals. What does it say at the top of box 79?

I will have to check it when I get home. IIRC there is a crease that runs through that box and you can't read what is says. As for decals - my guess is that they were the standard decals that came on all 455 H.O. Ram Air cars. Callouts on the lower quarters, deck lid, hood air inlets. Since it is a white car I would guess that they were black.

Well, it can't be anything too special. I pulled the BS on my white '70.
Box 44, COLOR.
LW UP ST W
10 A --- 19

I'll look into it more.

80 COLOR
LW UP ST W

Thanks for checking on it.
