Default A couple questions, have pics.

#1. Could anybody tell me which fitting is for the inlet and which one is for the outlet on my fuel pump. Its a Carson mechanical. Theres only two 1/4 female inlet/outlet.

#2. Whats the tubing for that runs under the engine. Looks like it may be a fuel line running from the pump to the passenger side. Maybe for running a line to the carb from the pump? Has a barb fitting on both ends.

My car is a 71 Lemans. Yes I am a newb, just trying to get her done. Have no one around to help. Thanks in advance, appreciate any help.

the lower line is the inlet
you cant press the actuator while holding your finger over that line and feel suction from it

2. appears to be the brake line to right front wheel

Can not tell you about the fuel pump. However, the line under the engine does not look like the brake line even though the brake line typically runs there. That line looks to be the line for a charcoal vent line for the stock fuel pump. The line would run to the fuel pump to a charcoal canister and back to the fuel tank.

Dunno if this might be the case with yours, depends on it's history, but...

My 72 Lemans had a chevy 350 in it, from the factory. (Canadian built)
The fuel lines ran up the passenger side of the car. Maybe this car had the same deal, and the line pictured that runs along the crossmember under the engine might have just been the fuel line to the fuel pump.

Also, I believe you meant it's a "Carter" pump, not "Carson"?
