Steve, is the argent supposed to have a texture to it? I have never seen a texture (like the honeycomb wheels) on the inside.
..I talked to 2 people who said..NO..They werent the honey comb paint..So..That was better for me since I had the argent paint..

The two sets of original condition 72 T/A grills I have (including the one I paint stripped in my thread) had a very rough texture to the silver paint. That was why it took so long to get the "purple stuff" to attack that original paint and remove it. During the stripping process the very heavy silver flake was evident as it gradually got dissolved away.

I didn't mean to imply that the factory actually used the same paint on the honeycomb wheels as on the grill, sorry for any confusion there.

I simply used the leftover can of the honeycomb paint because the finish that I got on my wheels using it, looked very similar to what was on the grills. I sprayed it close up and wet and it duplicated the existing rough texture really well. I guess you could do the same thing with the argent paint and just spray it very dry so it gets a good build up and leaves a rough finish.

Post more photos of your car. I love seeing the before and during photos.

Heck, anyone can post post a nice and pretty finished car. ;-)

Just by it's nature, argent paint is not as smooth as pigment paints. Gloss level is much lower and it doesn't stretch when it dries like a gloss paint, but other than that, IMHO I don't think there is any specific texture to the surface. I have one NOS grill, and it is smooth.

Mirk, go to the same page I referred 666 to, and you'll see how I fixed the broken section in my grill.
