Is this a one time cost? Monthly or yearly dues? What does it include? Installation? Might need some more info...

I used to work for LoJack, and the installation is not a big deal at all. If you can get them at three bills each you're doing good. However, try and get hold of a corporate account rep, since they will be able to treat it as such and get that price even if you have, say, two in CA, two in MI, FL, IL etc. If I can be of any assistance send me a PM.

Check out http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/
They have some decent GPS units that, I think, would be better than a lowjack system. I plan on using one when my car is done. .02

After my car got ripped, I sorely wish I would have invested in something like this. Cost could be a factor for me though, as I'm dirt poor. I couldn't afford theft insurance, and there wouldn't have been a great deal of 'replacement value' on my car anyway, but the car was worth more to me than three brand new Corvettes.

No monthly/yearly fees? I'd like to read an article of agreement/contract, but would be interested too.

That is a correct statement, as is the one about no fees; it's a one-time charge. As for use of a GPS as a recovery device, the problem is that it is not operated by the the local Police Dept, and I already know whats coming next...... "well they're gonna say hello to Mr. Smith and Mr. Wesson, and then we'll see". I've heard those comments so many times, but the fact is that it's well documented by Police investigations that citizens who take the law into their own hands are, in the vast majority, woefully unsuccessful to the point of loss of life. Just sayin'...

Problem with lojack is that the owner must activate it...it is not self activacting. Here in Southern California by the time you wake up and discover your car/truck/trailer is gone it is in Mexico or Arizona. If it was self activacting I would strongly consider it.

Yes this is how you could get that to happen. Put a sign on the dash in plain site " If you are going to steal my car, would you please call Lo Jack to activate the system for me"!

A motion sensor could easily do it... No biggie unless you need to give blood and DNA to get it turned on

You call the police and Lo/Jack is activated, now granted the police can do anything if the car is driven to Mexico.

Exactly why this system is a waste of money for me since I live about 140 miles from the Mexican border. Steal it at 2:00 AM and when I wake up it is 200 miles deep into Mexico.

Lo J
One of my car buddies with several ex*****ve cars says lojack isn't worth it. He's an old grouch and says the police probably won't get off their asses and look for the car when you call them anyways. There may well be better devices or no devices at all than Lojack but I put one in my car anyways. Early warning works because I was following it on the flatbed to the top shop (no engine at the time) and the system called me within about 15 minutes of it being on the move without the keyfob.
BTW, it was REALLY expensive so if you can get a deal, do it...

I have a better solution if anyone is interested? DeWalt Mobilock will SMS Text message your phone within 30 seconds of the car vibrating, heating up, or moving acrosst the GPS grid. Costs $300, and has online real time tracking. It can be enabled and disabled from your cell phone. It has a rechargeable battery in it that lasts for months, and it has strong magnets on it so you can hid the little bugger anywhere on your car just about.

Oh and if you can see where it is online, then Mexico wont be a problem.. just grab up a couple of your buddies, run down to mexico, buy some guns, and go in Dirty Harry style and clean house. Mexican police will probably just figure it was drug related and write it off as a closed case once they find the bodies. ;-)
