Default column to floor shift

I have a 4-speed steering column for the 67. Can I removed the column shifted steering column and use a floor shifter> Eventually I will make her a 4-speed but budget constrains limit this.

Thanks
Dave

Did you mean a 3-speed column?

You should be able to use a floor shifter without changing anything.
Just remove the shift lever from the column.
Mid 70s GM 3-speed floor shift cars had linkage connected to the column, that integrated with the locking ignition.
Aftermarket 3-speed shifters may or may not share the column connections.

65 bonnie here.

column shifter was wore bad. You could not leave car ldeling as it would drop into reverse.

Had to cut hole in floor, very carefully as tranny was close to pan. Put a guard on exhuast pipe that was near cable. This is a BM star shifter. (Cheapest they had on hand.) Has a lock out to only go from nut to drive. Pull up t and then pull back and go into 1 or 2. or 1 then ppull back again and slam forward for up shifts manually. Love it.

Left old part of column on.

This is for my driver tho. Don't know how factory one would work.

The main reason that I was looking to change the column, was that the old auto shifter would be removed. Meaning no collar still on column. PLus I would get the benefit of having a working turn signal.

Do you remember which model you have??
