Default 1970 GTO with 1971 front

Hi people!
Sorry but i'm from another land, Europe for exactly, and i don't know very well english but i have a question about my 1970 GTO.
I buy this car without many parts: engine and complete front end. After many reserching i found a complete front (endura bumber, hood, fender) from a 71 convertible GTO. Now a don't know what is the best: make a 71 clone in Lucerne blue or the "original" palladium silver from the '70
Thank all!

Since you dont have original engine, go with the one that you like the best and or have parts available.

Re sale value may be better with 70 parts, but prices are way down so it may not matter.

Good luck.

Hi there Bobby71,

Since your '70 isn't original anymore (engine, front clip) I would put the '71 front clip on the car and paint it Lucerne Blue.
Lucy Blue isn't a correct '70 modelyear color otherwise my '70 GTO convertible would become Lucy Blue!
It's an ugly ass non metallic blue right now..... Lucy Blue is really pretty though, both with a white or black interior!!!
I think Lucy Blue really goes very well with the agressive 71/72 nose design.
Silver is nice, but not that special in my opinion. (And there are waaaaay too many silver cars in Europe anyway, at least as far as I'm concerned!)

Where in Europe are you from?!?
I'm from the Netherlands.....

Thanks JLHarper and erikgto for the quickly reponse...
I'm from Switzerland, exaclty the sud side, in the near of Italy.
The color question is another problem: i have many books with Pontiac id numbers, but in only one i found the Lucerne blue color for 1970, this book is "Pontiac GTO ID Numbers 1964-74 from Cars+Parts Magazine". In internet or in another books, never found picture or specification for a 1970 GTO in Lucern blue.
Your GTO, Erick, is original with this color?have you a picture?
Thanks

Booby;
Mine a Sierra Yellow originally.
Now it's some ugly blue color.
I want to change it.
Probably to Oribit Orange (The Judge color)

Welcome to the Forum Bobby71!! I love Lucy Blue especially on a 71 body style - go with that color and you won't regret it.

yes,welcome Bobby.

yes you will love the blue.had a couple 71 trans am's that were blue and i loved them.

with where you live, the 71 front will work great until you find a 70,but i bet parts are super hard to find over there.we cry here driving 2 or 3 hours to get something you have to fly across the ocean to find.

I wouldn't put a '71 front on a '70. The hood, fenders, and valence are all reproduced and could be bought new.

i look from long time in internet or in advertisement of my contry but is not so easy find right pieces
This 71 front is a good occasion, for price and condition, and i think the front fenders could be modified for an 70 future front.
I have many works made of this car: the chassis was new painted, all new busching for front and rear suspension, new rear quarter left and right(reproduction sorry ).
Is lot of work but no much GTO 70 and 71 lives in Switzerland...
Curiosity: in a county here, in 70 years, was an assembly plan for GM where much Chevelle and Buick will made!

Bobby:
Post some pictures of your car.

Here are a few of my old Lucy Blue 71 Judge Clone which is now based in Norway. I sold to a guy here in Atlanta who shipped it to his summer home in Norway! This will give you some inspiration until you get your's finished!

Thanks all, i don't make a car for sale but a car for me and i know how is important to have the right pieces for a good value.
From the Pontiac Historic Service i have riceved the invoice with the original option of my car. She ware sold to GM Overseas Operation in New York in 12-18-1969.
Question about engine: the color change between 1970 to 1971 (metallic blue/pastel blue) or is a different story?I look in internet but i have see 71 or 72 model in metallic blue and the "original engine" write on the advertisment and i don't understand.
Sorry for my english.....

I'm happy to have to possibility to learn much information about Pontiac, and this is because the people write in this forum. Thanks!
The 70 GTO is today the only one Pontiac i have, but in the past was a 71 Formula 455 and a 76 400 Trans-Am. This is a few picture just for fun (i think is not a good idea post the picture of a Firebird in a GTO part to the forum but....)

I think to go next month take the 71 front part, after will be the time for the engine...a 400 engine block ist found, and interessant parts are in the neigbourhood...

Way to go Bobby! Congratulations. That is a good find. Now you have the correct front end for the car. Better for the value. Now for the color, but you still have time to think about it.
