My 68 - I call her Red, cause that's what she is!

Can someone PLEASE tell me how to remove the headlights? I need to get those goofy chrome eyelids off.

No, the lights don't just come out by removing the headlight screws. Do they come out from behind???

Here's the most recent pic of mine. Just wish I could find the time to finish it.

Well I can tell you that when I was taking mine apart I took the grills off and then like you got stuck figuring out how those darn headlights come off. I left them on and AFTER I removed the endura bumper they came off quite easily from the back. I'm not sure how the pro's do it. I'd hate to change a headlight and have to remove the whole bumper!! There has to be a way.

That's what I'm talking about! You can't tell me that it was a "dealer only" fix if and when your headlight went out back in the day, when these were new?

Sorry for the ginormous pic. How do I post normal human sized pictures?

Wow, first post in the forums - now I'm 0 for 1

Thanks, I have been lurking around this board for awhile just trying to read all of the info here so I don't double post. Unfortunately I am new to potiacs so I don't have much knowledge to impart but I will absolutely leach off from everyone else's knowledge. I just started really playing with the goat - now named 'Spartacus' - and I am sure I've found the right place for help.

WHAT A GREAT NAME!!!
Welcome aboard, Spartacus!!! You are among friends here!

Don't worry about making a double post. And remember, the only stupid question is the one that isn't asked.

Default My 68

Hey guys,Look at my 68 I recently bought off of ebay. This is second one I have bought off of ebay and was not disappointed with either. Now look at damage the shipper did to roof during shipment from Michigan to upstate South Carolina. It appears at this point that shipper is going to try and get out of paying for damage. Driver let car above mine leak down against my roof. I bought car on June 25 and it was shipped on July 3rd of this year.

Default More Pictures

For some reason, all my pictures did not upload. Damage is much worst than pictures show. Both shops I carried car to for estimates said car needed top skin replaced. I am repairing top in my little shop myself and putting black vinyl top on.

I'd definitely pursue making the shipper responsible for repairs...I don't see how they could deny responsibility...and I'd replace the skin if necessary rather than put a vinyl top on.
May be too late now though if you've already started banging on it.

Spoke to shipper yesterday. He told me to put car in shop and have repaired and he would call shop when repairs completed and pay with credit card. Said he didn't want to turn it in to his Ins. Company.I couldn't believe what he was saying. It took me 30 days to get him to just call me back. I told him I would not put car in shop until he had paid me for the damages he caused. No way will I take a chance like this and hope he is still around and will do what he says he will and in meantime, my car is being held for payment. This is turning into a nightmare. He should be a man, step up to the plate, and pay for damages.

Three words:
Get an Attorney

Do not play this guy's game. He's the shipper. He is, by law, required to have insurance. Yours is not to care how he takes care of the payment but that payment for damages caused to your car, not by fault of your own, is covered to make you "whole".

The reason someone would tell you that a new skin was needed is because working the dents out with the braces in place is more difficult.

Default My new 68 Goat

My first goat. Picked it up in Kansas City MO this weekend. The car is beautiful with no rust and the interior is nearly completely restored sans the wood bezel and a crappy tape deck. Numbers matching 400 CID, 4 -speed with 3.90 rear end. 86k original miles

Last title change dates back to 1976; I'm the third owner unbelievably. Car also came with the original protecto plate and delivery papers/manuals.
