Default oil pan

Thanks all, got the 65 on road again.

Fresh paint but still needs a few thing...........(HA HA HA try alot of things)

One question I have is can the oil pan be removed without removing the engine on a 65 bonnie? Would like to put a chrome one on as this one has a few dings. Also check the lower end a bit in process.

It is really no big thing as hopefully the engine comes out next winter for rebuild/enlargement.

It is possible to remove the pan in the car on a Non A/C car, but IT IS NOT WORTH THE BOTHER!

It might be possible but you'll probably find that pulling the engine is easier.

If I may make a suggestion here, don't use a chrome pan. They tend to leak. It is possible to get them to seal by roughing up the sealing surface and gluing the gasket on but in my opinion it's not worth the trouble or risk for something that's barely seen.

Another consideration along these lines -

As with chrome dipstick tubes etc., I have buddies that have had flakes of chrome from these end up in their oil & cause problems. Make certain their is no plating that could come off & enter the internals.

Chrome accesories leak, period. It almost a guaranteed thing.

I'd wait until you pull the engine and straighten the current pan out and paint it then.
