Default 66 gto tri-power but which manifolds? ram air

I am close to putting the engine back in a 66 gto convertible I purchased two years ago. PHS documented it to be a tru tri-power car so I am keeping the car just that but the exhaust I would like to change . Everything I read says the exhaust manifolds were not very good performers in 66 and I have looked at some ram air up grades. I read post from this site all the time and would like suggestions from some of you old chiefs. The engine is mostly stock with tri-power and 4 speed.
Thanks Hunter

On a mostly stock 389 you're not likely to see much gain by going to Ram Air manifolds. The log manifolds (which would be correct on your '66) get a bad rap by a lot of people, but they're really not too bad.

If you do decide to get the Ram Air manifolds make sure you get the 1967 style. They fit the '64-67 A-body cars. The later ('68-72) style won't fit your '66.

thanks Goatless, I had been looking @ the ram air 67 manifolds but did have that question about the III's and sure glad I didn't order a set. If I order a set of the RARE manifolds what do you think about the up grade of coating or are they just fine as-is?
