Scratch resistant clear coat?
I'm thinking about going with Spies Hecker 8450 Diamond clear coat, which is scratch resistant. It only cost $50 more then the 8015 that I was going to use.
Anybody have any experience with this type of clear?

We used the 8450 on my 65 gto. I am not at all happy with it! What we did was sprayed 4 coats of color(Iris Mist) then 3 coats of 8035.That looked good but had a some dirt in it. We then sanded the whole car w/ 1000grit, baked it and let it sit for 24hrs.(to let all of the solvents out). We then sprayed the 8450. The car looks wavy all over. No matter how much we sand and buff the waves come back after a few days. I would use 8035 and leave it alone!!!

Interesting, Did you flash-off (low bake) between coats? I know the data sheets says 1 med coat followed by 1 full coat w/no flash or 2 coats full w/flash-off for 5-15 min. What primer did you use?

My experience with anti-scratch clear is that it looks good, however, you'd better do any buffing within 24 hours of spraying it. Like buffing concrete otherwise. irgoatmike
