Default SD-455 intake?

I have an pontiac intake that I came across in the trunk of a car in the junk yard, it seems to be the exact duplicate of a 73 SD-455 intake in that it has the prominent "stove" with three large pipe-plugs in addition to the heat crossover on the bottom of the manifold, is this a sd-455 intake for it does not have the LS-2 or LS2X stamping on the manifold, but looks as if it is a SD-455 intake, am i correct in stating that the stock 73/74 455's had the same intake?
I will post pics later..

Tom

The discription you are giving would fit all 73-74 intakes, The part # for a 74 SD intake is 495107 all other 74's would be 495106 for 350-455 4bbl intakes. The difference in the SD is the larger size of the ports. The ports are taller for more air flow to match the size of the intake ports on the heads. I hope that you were lucky enough to find a SD manifold, you can sell it for some good money on this site or E-Bay.

No, the SD intake would have the LS2 or LS2X.
Also, another distinct feature only to the SD intake is the top rail valve cover bolt holes are open through to the intake port runners.

This is a feature of the heads, not the intake................

The 1973 LS 2 would have a 494105 part number with a K172 date code noted.

i'd still like to hear the cast number on these, as i've heard (not seen mind you) of a few intakes without the LS-2/X

73 SD-455 intake = 494405 with LS2 cast on water crossover

74 SD-455 intake = 495107, early has LS2, late has LS2X
