That 69 TA is a wonderful time capsule car.
Looks like it has been lying dormant in a dark garage since 1972 What is the history/story on this car? Thanks for posting pics

Well, today we found out the engine is seized from sitting 27 years. It is currently soaking but will probably be coming out soon. I will take alot of pictures.
Question: There are 2 carbs with the car. The original owner says one of them is original to the car but he isn't sure which one. The one on the car has the numbers 7028276 0986 and the other one is 28273 XX 0159. Any thoughts? The car has an 06A build date. I am going to get the complete history from the owner soon. I will post it. Thanks in advance |

I would say the 28273 is the original carb.

Great find there! It is amazing how many of these cars were built during the first week of June. Seems like most of them. If one of those carbs is absolutely original to the car it certainly is the 28273. (0159) is the 15th day of 1969. The carb that is usually found on both RAIII and RAIV 4 speed 69 T/A's is the elusive 7029273. The 28273 was more commonly found on the RAIII GTO's and Judges. It is likely that your T/A had the 28273 since the original "elephant man" owner said that one of them was original! ;O) Good luck with the car. I think the 69 T/A is one of the all time greatest Pontiacs. I love em! Last edited by Uncle Judge; 01-15-2009 at 12:28 PM. |

The carb stamping looks good.
That October 1968 distributor takes the cake for a wide date spread!

WOW!!! GREAT Find indeed. Car looks really good. My Neighbor is the original owner of a 69 Trans Am RA-3 4-speed . Too bad it will probably never be restored. It is not in very good condition at all. Plus with him being in his mid 60's, I don't think the car will ever look like it should. Pretty run down at this point. Mostly it is original paint, but very rough shape. I am very impressed with the condition your 69 is in. Again GREAT Find.Enjoy driving.

Living proof of just how early these distributors can pre-date a car. 8 months on this one. Not uncommon for other components such as starters either. Those 1952's are tough to come up with!

Here are a couple more pics. The radiator is supposed to be original. The code on the tag looks like U0. Is that correct?

Very nice!!
I remember a '69 T/A running around Fresno back in the late '80's. I had my '76 T/A back then, and could never catch the owner to talk cars-- it seemed we were always going in opposite directions. Congratulations!

If you look close enough, there is a line thru the O, making it a UQ (manual trans.) radiator. Yes, it looks original.
