Doing the 4L80E swap, and am looking for choices in speedo converter boxes. What are the 'good' ones, which will get you by, or does it make more sense to just change the speedo to an electronic one?

they don't offer a mechanical speedo that'd need it.
fwiw, i think abbot's the only one out there, hwy455....

i don't stock them, just order as needed.
they come outta arkansas, so take a few days to arrive.
to order, they want speciifcs as to gear ratio, tire height, and what VSS you're using so it can be pre-set; easily reset in future if needed by end-user.

4L80E, so GM VSS, 3.73 rear, 26 inch tire. I believe they have toggle switches to allow for fine tuning, correct?

affirmative on dip switches for setting calibration.
gm's used at least two different vss's, but knowing it's 4l80e oughta be enough

You now have several replys to Your post over there. How ever they are still recommending the abbott adapter.
Found this post on pro-turing about converting to an electric speedo. Still in the $200.00 + range. I have seen adds for an adapter to convert electric to mechanical. But i'll be damend if I can find them. I'll keep looking.

I know originally I did a search and found a number of them too, and when I wwent yesterday to search, didn't find 'em either. The install will be done Tuesday, so some time next week I'll have to make a decision. I can toss a cheap-o electric speedo on the dash temp, until I fiigure out exactly what I'm going to do, may actually do that to give me more time to plan. I may do a gauge upgrade like I did on the 442, turned out real clean, and would be a better long-term solution I feel...

ANy of you guys seen an add on speedo electronic or mechanical for trannies without one? Have a race Nash 5 speed without any.

You mean adding a VSS to a tranny that has a mechanical output? Yeah, they make them, PAC-2700 I think is the one I saw inexpensively, can search that. Several make them, that way is easy.

What I would need is something that triggers off the slip joint, u joints or driveshaft as the tranny has no output at all for any speedo.
