Change a blower motor
Ok folks, I did something stupid and now I need help!
How in the world did the folks who changed them at a shop in the old days get to it? I've looked at dropping the inner fender and there doesn't look to be enough room and I pulled the box inner and outer to see if I could fit the motor through the opening to no avail So how can I install a blower motor without taking off the fender? Wayne S

A/C or non A/C the inner fender drops out easily for access if needed

Non A/C...and I'm looking hard at those inners. Almost looks as if it could drop down, but it catches the bottom of the fender and I'm not ready to hurt the paint yet.
Motor is in as well as the front sheet metal Wayne S |

I've changed one on my '65 GTO by separating the squirrel cage from the motor and then sliding the motor along the top of the inner fender. Not sure if there would be any difference in room on a '66 or '67.

I think you've got to drop that inner fender...can you at least move it out of the way?

guy brings me a 67 non A/C car thats just back from body shop as a rolling shell with front end assembled.
He then hands me the heater box to install. I said "OK you show me how to put this in with the fender on." He gave me a dumb look and in 30 minutes the fender was off unharmed(got to love that masking and duct tape). |

That looks to be the route, but I'm going to try removing the squirrel cage first and then seeing if the motor will slide across the top of the inner fenders.
Now I'm sure this will be the last big project...at least this month Wayne S |

Sorry I'm late on this one but the inner well will come out fairly easily if you pull down and twist the rear. I just put factory a/c evap box in my 67 this way. Didn't have to remove fender. You have to get the car jacked up pretty high for it to come out the bottom. Be sure to only put the bolts back in loosely and tighten AFTER you lower the car onto the ground. Helps to have a second set of hands to re install but I got mine out by myself.
