NHRA Indy Nationals - 1963
This came up over in the "trivia" thread but I thought it might be appropriate here, as well.
I was just looking at the middle picture on this page and noticed something significant (to me, anyway). You can't tell in this pic but my Dad is driving the car in the far lane. The story is this: For the B/FX final at the Indy Nationals in 1963 it came down to Wangers in the Royal car and Pete Seaton's Pontiac lightweight. Jim Cornell was the usual driver, but cut his right hand on the sharp edge of a valvecover while lashing valves between rounds. He didn't think he could drive the car (and Pete wouldn't drive the car) so they decided to put Dad in the car for this one round. Wangers won the class and went on to runner up for the "Little Eliminator" title behind Dave Strickler's Chevy. Here's a pic from later that same day, the Little Eliminator final run: I never noticed this before, until just now. K

Found this at a swap meet a week ago.
It's the only picture I've ever seen that had both cars completely shown. Again - Jim Wangers vs Pete Seaton, B/FX final at Indianapolis, September 1963. Van Seymore driving Pete Seaton's car.
