In your estimation, what do you think a fresh rebuilt 389 would be worth with the following:
ported and polished, 3-angle valve job 062 heads comp cams dual springs 1.6 RR w/ poly locks Freshly machined block .030" over Stock crank and rods All new bearings New Sealed power pistons Roll Master double roller timing chain long tube headers Accel wires Accel HEI coil Crower 60916 cam 69 intake gasket matched q-jet carb New motor mounts edelbrock valve covers I will have all accessories as well. turn key ready to start. Will also have dyno sheet. Thanks guys Last edited by RiceCooker; 10-20-2008 at 11:19 PM. |

What does the guy want for it?
Does he say how much he has invested in it? It sounds as if he has several thousand in it, so I guess its worth anything up to that amount, depending on how much you want it, and how badly he needs to sell it.

Sounds kind of like my 389. I paid $2500 to get it rebuilt but that doesn't include the intake, carbs, headers or ignition. I have over 4 grand into it with all that stuff.
Here's the invoice

Thanks! Makes the rest of the car look like crap.
3200 sounds like a good deal comparing it to what I have into mine. Other than comparing it to mine I don't really know. What year is it?

I didn't have the money, luckily my engine builder said he only wanted half at the time and half when I picked it up. It took him 6 months so it gave me time to save up for the rest.

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Especially if it's a turn key like you said.

Are those pistons cast or forged? None of the componants are particularly pricey, but if the money is going into quality machine work and assembly, in the long run it will be money well spent.
If you are not personally familer with this person's work, I would surely do some asking around before sealing the deal, and don't pay up front!
