found a 69 gto conv, liberty blue with white top and interior, all number matching been sitting since 76, auto, hideways,ps,pdb, burried in back of a building so i do not know how rusty it really is, I just have no idea what it would be worth with things the way they are, anyone see anything similar sell lately

The factor that would be critical here is the buried part of the equation...Convertibles always bring a premium over their H/T counterparts, but due to their nature (conv tops can sometimes cause water to seep in and cause alot rust/damage to floors/trunk/interior) they may not be worth it. In this case, from description of car, hard to tell w/o any detailed pics on what it's worth...Originality may be a plus here but Auto tranny may just put it in the run of the mill GTO convertible category...If you can post pics and list other options, it may help us a bit...If I had to guess from above description, I'd say anywhere from $7k-15k, considering it is sitting and sinking since '76...

Default gto conv

we'll the good thing is, it has been stored inside the whole time in a nice dry building, so I am not worried about water getting into it and rusting out, but there is always mice and where the car sat before it was put inside, guess I will just have to look and see

A very rusty, but running, green 4spd conv. sold on Ebay recently for $10,900.

Looked at a total project, disassebled, wrong motor, bondo bucket, 4spd convert, the guy first asked $12K and was asking $8K last time I saw it advertised.

If that one is in better shape body wise, has great color combo, and block is good, might be $12-14K. More if the body is really good.

Awesome Color Combo. Hope you can pick this up as it would be great to see it all restored. Let us know how it works out for you.

In a related question, does anyone have opinions of what a nice restored (say a 2 or so) 69 vert is worth now if you had to sell in a reasonably quick time frame.

I am not planning on selling but am curious what the market is now for a run of the mill GTO vert in nice shape.

With Hardtops not able to pull 20K are verts not able to pull 30K now?

I am guessing from where the market is at $15k might be steep for a project car, regardless of color combo and numbers matching,

Well, if your car's nicer than this one on ebay right now I'd say you should have no problem pulling 30k if this guy gets 27k for this thing. warning: the following picture is not for the faint of heart.

here's the auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-...=p4506.c0.m245

well, this is only a clone in the next auction but it's a pretty nice almost correct one (wrong valence). two years ago this would have pulled $15k easy, now it only got to 8k -- does that mean real ones have lost the same percentage of going rate value? I'm sure the "quick time frame" shaves a lot of money off the "what you'll eventually get when the right person finds you" number.

I saw an interview when I was flipping channels and hit that BJ auction. The guy was trying to tell the viewers that though the economy was down, the car market isn't. I think he was trying to trick the phone in bidders. My opinion, based on nice but plain hard tops not hitting 20 means nice but plain rag tops not hitting 30 anymore. I'm sure there are many exceptions going on right now but probably not for quick fire sales.

Good time to buy I guess, That 69 clone looks like a decent car but the lack of chrome moldings along the lower sides makes you wonder about the body history.

The reason I was asking is because there is a nice rust free 69 4spd vert in town (one owner) that needs freshening (incorrect and old yellow paint over factory mayfair maize) needs new top and interior work and a full mechanical going over but no rust, numbers match untouched powertrain and complete unmolested one owner car.

Any guesses what the market range for the car should be?
