Which filter are you trying to cross reference from. I used to run a Fram PH8A. I believe it is a Ford filter. That is what my filter relocation system takes. I now run a Wix 51515R. That is the cross for the PH8A or Fram HP1 (Frams race filter).

Probird I used to run Fram hp2 but they no longer make it. This is for a stock pontiac oil filter housing. It is for a friends car. Thanks Don

The NAPA 1049 ( WIX 51049 ) is actualy closer in size to the HP-2. The 1258 is slightly smaller. If you go to http://www.wixfilters.com look in the racing filters section and it might provide the racing version of 1049. If not made in a racing version you might consider the WIX racing filter 51060R w/anti-drain back or 51061R without. Both have 28 gpm flow. These are similar in size to the HP-2 filter. Although not listed they have a 500 psi burst pressure rating, in comparision the "regular" 51061 non racing version is listed as 285 psi.

DON,
THE COMMON (SPIN ON)WIX OIL FILTER USED ON STOCK PONTIAC'S FROM 67-79 IS PART NUMBER 51258 (HEIGHT 5.178"). THE FILTER USED FROM 1960-1966 WAS THE 51049 (HEIGHT 4.338") I THINK WIX USED TO OFFER THE 51258 IN A RACING VERSION (PART NUMBER 51258R). THEY DON'T SHOW IT ANY MORE...THE NAPA FILTERS ARE THE SAME #, JUST LEAVE OFF THE 5 IN FRONT OF THE NUMBER. THE 51258 AND 51049 HAVE THE SAME SPEC'S OTHER THAN THE HEIGHT.

THE 51060 AND 51061 FILTERS AND CHEVROLET FILTERS AND HAVE THE LARGER O.D. GASKET AND WILL NOT WORK ON A STOCK PONTIAC OIL FILTER HOUSING.

YOUR CHOICES ARE LIMITED.

IN MY HUMBLE OPINION... THE STOCK WIX FILTER IS ONE OF THE BEST YOUR CAN BUY, UNLESS YOU HAVE UNUSUAL ENGINE SPEC'S.
GOOD LUCK
JEFF

Thanks for the correction, I just reliesed the two racing filters didn't have the correct gasket size.

I can't find one that crosses with the HP-2. Although Jegs website shows that they have the HP-2 and can ship out Monday.
