Default GOING RATE FOR SOUTHERN SHELL ?

Just curious what the going rate for a southern shell would be.
70-72 Lemans. I don't mind a pinhole here or there but no panel replacement .
What should I expect to pay ? I am in the Michigan area. How much difference
between on rolling frame or off ?
Thanks.

I've seen them go for about 2500 down here. Most of the time that's a complete running car but it may not be running very well. I bought a 71 Lemans about 4 months ago for 2100, in good shape running 350/350 but just a plain jane car for a freind of mine in minnesota.

I just sold a complete 72 Lemans (except windshield, motor, trans) for $500. No rust. Was too far down the list of projects and I bought it because it came with a 350 and newly rebuilt th400. With no glass, it would have rusted to pieces quickly.

You do know the 70 shell is considerably different than the 71-72 shell?

I know the '71-'72 has the evaporative fuel system or what ever it is called
in the rear floor pan trunk area. Anything else I should be aware of or look out for ?
I am really interested as it would help me make a more educated purchase.
Thanks.

There are minor differences in the doors for 70 only......mirror location & door jamb area differences.

The evaporative emissions system that was used starting with the 71 model year brought with it a completely different rear underseat pan, rear body support, trunk pan, package tray and rear seat support panel. The 70 only trunk floor will have a large PO27 stamped near the right tail lamp opening. The tail panel has depressions between the trunk opening and the quarter panels.

You can replace the front trunk section and fill the depressions in the tailpanel and fool most people. The amount of work it would take to fool me would never be worth the effort. IMO
