68 GTO frame VIN and rear end ID
I pulled the body off one of my parts cars. I don't remember where to look for the frame VIN to see if it was the original frame, and also I can't find a two letter code stamped in the axle tube. Any help is appreciated.

Here is a good post with pictures:

This will make it easier

68gtoMN,
That's interesting. How do you go about linking a single post?

It looks like code SE is stamped in the passenger side axle tube. Doesn't look like a Pontiac rear. But what is it?

By the way...It's definitely not a Pontiac rear end. I think it's an Olds rear. Here's a site that will help you though... http://oldsmobility.com/reardiffs.htm Check out the related links near the bottom of the page too.

Thanks everyone for the info.
If there was a VIN on this frame, it's gone now due to some heavy rust. Without any visible numbers, is there any way to identify a GTO frame from a Cutlass or Chevelle frame?
