Default 68 GTO frame VIN and rear end ID

I pulled the body off one of my parts cars. I don't remember where to look for the frame VIN to see if it was the original frame, and also I can't find a two letter code stamped in the axle tube. Any help is appreciated.

Here is a good post with pictures:

They can be very small, stamped lightly, and hard to spot.

For your differential numbers, look on the rear facing side of the axle. My marks are stamped on the passenger side tube

68gtoMN,
That's interesting. How do you go about linking a single post?

It looks like code SE is stamped in the passenger side axle tube. Doesn't look like a Pontiac rear. But what is it?

Thanks...never knew that.
By the way...It's definitely not a Pontiac rear end. I think it's an Olds rear.
Here's a site that will help you though...

Check out the related links near the bottom of the page too.

Thanks everyone for the info.

If there was a VIN on this frame, it's gone now due to some heavy rust. Without any visible numbers, is there any way to identify a GTO frame from a Cutlass or Chevelle frame?
