Default Muffler advise - GTO

Need some help with mufflers. I bought a complete stock exhaust system for my 66 GTO which has 2" exhaust pipes. It came with stock mufflers which I don't want to use. The stock mufflers are 2" in and 2 1/4" out.

I wanted to get something like Pypes Street Pro's or Thrust turbos but most are 2 1/4" in and out. Is it goofy to put on an adapter on front to get the 2" to fit or can an exhaust shop strech out a 2"? Thanks

Norm, have Joe at Waldron's (www.waldronexhaust.com) make you some of his Imposter mufflers that fit right on and will make more sound for you. Or, spend the big bucks and buy the dual mode VOE mufflers that will fit right on too.

confused, are you sure you did not get a 2 inch outlet, 2 1/4 inlet? there are a lot of choices and restrictive head pipes are not the best when buying a system. Better to make larger head pipes to match the 2 1/4 outlets if that is what you got. go with the more common muffler sizes.

Sorry, you're right......2" out, 2 1/4" in mufflers. Might have to get 2 1/4" head pipes. That would solve it....thanks
