Question HEI Advance Stops

I'm going to add centrifugal advance stops to my HEI. I like the curve I get with my current weights, cam, and springs. It just doesn't come to a stop like it should. I think the weights are overtraveling. I would also like to reduce the total distributor advance a couple of degrees. I know I could probably get different weights, springs, and cam to prevent this. However, I would like to have a positive stop. I think I will TIG up the slots, and grind them to get it right. I'm looking for examples of how others have done this. I'm planning on sending my extra distributor to Larry Rowe. I just don't have the funds right now. This is on a factory HEI.

It's pretty easy, just weld up the advance slot and use a file or grinder to set the length to the desired spec.

Jim Hand has an excellent picture of this on page 115 of his book.

That's what I had planned/seen. People either weld or braze the slots. I just thought I would see if anyone had a different way. Thanks Rocky.
