Default is this normal

hello, yesterday i mounted my rebuilt 66 389 engine into my 66 gto. i think the way the engine lays on the motor monts looks funny..

first picture you se passenger side, the engine mounts lays onto the frame

second picture is the driver side, the engine mount is higher.

on both sides the rubber on the mounts lays onto the brackets attached to the frame..

look at the photos,is this normal??

thx

I replaced my motor mounts on my 67 and it didnt lay like that onto the frame, of course this was on a 400 motor so Im not sure if its the same mount. THat does look close though

is there any adjustnments on the engine mount bracket that is bolted to the frame?
there was a 1974 400 engine in the car earlier, and i tightend up the brackets with that engine.

is there a special procedere to mount the engine in the car.

I dont remember being able to adjust it to tell you the truth. I just bolted them in and they lay in there nicely. I would think an adjustable mount would sag from the weight of the motor

on the box it says westar..
in the catalog i found this:

6.4L(389CI) V8 1964–67 LH&RH Front EM-2256

on the eweb site it states 2256 is used on both sides.outside the boxes i have it states pioneer 2255 on one box,and 2256 on the other one.. it says in catalog that is for 1968-1977 400 cid engine.

have anyone used these engine mounts???????

ALSO I NOTICED THAT ONE OF THE FRAME BRACKETS ARE TALLER THAN THE OTHER.MAYBE I HAVE MOUNTED THEM INNCORRECT.ANYBODY KNOW WICH SIDE THE TALL BRACKET GOES??

I dont recognize any of those numbers. I do know that when I bought mine I had a choice of OEM and aftermarket. Dont know if there is a difference but in my experience sometimes the cheaper oem part is not a very quality part, imo

Just my opinion, ive put 2 engines in 65,s 3 in a 67 gto never have i seen this?? Looks like 2 differant motor mounts, Why don,t you just go up to any auto parts store and see if they have a new set for a 65 lemans or gto, that should do it.

The motor mounts don't look like what I am used to seeing.
