Default speaker wiring help....

Hello I have a 98 trans am with the monsoon system in it and am putting speakers in, there are 4 speaker wires going to each door and 4 more going to each sail panel (which dont seem to be very loud) and more going to the rear hatch, I have a book on the car but none of the wiring is the right color, I found a link on for the monsoon wiring diagram and my wire colors are not those colors, so since you dont have red/black you get colors like green and blue How do you know which ones are positive and negative, Is there a way to tell , I have a meter but dont know how you could test,, Any Help would be appreciated.....

Couple things here that you need to be aware of. First, the Monsoon system uses an amp that has crossovers built into it, and the 4 wires to each is for the mid range and tweeter 'sets'. That amp is in the pass. rear panel in the hatch area, over the wheel well.

When replacing speakers in that car and you want to retain the rest of the stereo, your best bet is to buy factory replacement ones.

My suggestion would be to scrap the whole system and buy a new one, running all new wires. You can shot-gun replacing the individual factory speakers, but you'll end up paying more that it would cost to replace the whole thing.

You can use one of the PAC control units to retain the wheel controls, and the din dash adapter plates for that car are pretty nice. There also is available a thunder form rear sub enclosure that fits in the hatch area on the drivers side, but it means you need to ditch the cd changer if you have one. (Not a big deal if you get an MP3 compatible unit).

Kenwood Excelon KDC-X591 = $125.00 (brand new) IkeSound.com

PAC SWI-JACK (steering wheel controls) = $36.00
Head Unit Dash Kit = $33.00 (with plug for factory harness)

Add Sub

MTX Thunderform for your car = $170.00

Kenwood KAC-X621 (600 watt bridged) Amp = $160.00 (new) IkeSound.com
