Default Remote car starter

How difficult is it to install a remote car starter on something like a 98 Tahoe? I want to do this. I think I have to buy a module that disables the security system, but what I wonder is, is this whole deal a plug in system or is there some wire connections that have to be made as well?
Any recs on the name brand to buy? It's an old truck remember (1998).
Thanks,

I put an "Auto Command" remote starter (by an outfit called DesignTech International) into my '94 Suburban, and it required a fair amount of finding and splicing wires. The directions were complete and easy to follow, but it was still several hours of work.

The box has a rats nest of wires coming out of it. Alot of tedious work splicing wires, it appears to me. I haven't done it, but I purchased a system from Circuit City and will be taking it back for the install after Christmas. Lying on the floor of the truck and splicing wires under the dash doesn't sound appealing, I'd rather pay a professional installer than to spend an entire weekend day installing it.

Thats what you get for being "FullSize"

I'm a XXL too. I had to wire an ECU into my Miata when I supercharged it. Not fun.
