Default tire size 72 a body

Hi, my brother needs new tires for his 72 cutlass convert. Currents are 215 70 14,
2 questions.
1. can he go to 225 70 14?
2. I was going to reccomend bf goodrich radial TAs, but tire rack rates the firehawk indy 500s better??

thanks for the help.

John

ps i said to go with 225 60 14, he was concerned he would see too much wheel well.
Opinions?

I don't see any issues with going to 225/70-14 on the cutlass. I upgraded to 15" Rally Wheels and have 225/70-15s BFG T/As all around on my `72 and I love it. The car has a great stance and it reduces some of the wheelwell gap. I recommend that size if your friend is inclined to go to 15" wheels.

Thanks to all, I suggested 60s but they were sold out nation wide so he went with 225 70 and the stock 14s. Should be good.
