But when it comes out of the nozzle there is no place for the nozzle to go. That's my whole point. There is NO vent or opening in front of the indentation

In other words, the right side comes through the cowl vent. The left side has NO opening at all for the nozzle to go through

the back of the cowl has two sets of slotted holes
in the middle ,between the two sets of slotted holes ,there are two longer larger holes, like 1 inch x 4 or 5 " long....the passenger side nozzle comesup thru the right long hole...right there where your indentation is in the firewall, ...here are my pics from last night...( ignore the crushed areas of the firewall, where the prev owner hit it , while re installing the engine!)

Thanks -- I'll print out what was said with pics and bring it to my mechanic today (he has to install the washer switch anyway).

I'm thinking he didn't see those holes you spoke about. I'll take some pics from inside the car of the cowl area.

Just odd there was absolutely no setup on the car for the side we're having an issue with, as though there was no way for it to be done ...

you /he are looking for it to come out of the slotted vents , (like drivers side) ,and thats not where it goes,...the indentation in firewall is in the right place....you should see the nozzle from the long drivers side hole closer to the center than the skinny slotted holes ...I think I might have an old pic somewhere...let me look...

here , old pics...see how you can see a shimmer from the drivers side nozzle thru the skinny slot....then in the longer drivers side hole you can just see like a little shiny dot in the center, because of the angle it looks closer ,but actually is further away , closer to the other end...it may "locate" by the shot from the engine side, see where the cowl is "raised" some over the longer holes?

Are you saying that you don't have the two slots in the center area of the sheet metal? The slot on the right (passenger side is considered the right) should be almost aliegned with the intentation on the firewall as shown in your picture. It looks like you even have the screw which secures the nozzle to the sheet metal. I don't see anything wrong in your pictures except the nozle and rubber hose is missing.

I took pics but yes, there are 2 "vents" in the center ... but since the nozzle comes up through the cowl on the right, it only made sense that it should come up on the left the same way. It's that way in my Mustang and hell, even my daily driver SUV.

I'll post pics in a bit

you cant use "make sense" to locate it,, you need to locate it from our pics...the passengers side nozzle DOES come up at the more right side of the "large" "vents " in the center...the drivers comes up thru the skinny 'vents'....this isnt a mustang , nor your daily driver...lol

and you mean "come up on the right the same way" ...the passenger side is considered right side...

Ok, here are the pics, and as I understand it, the nozzle comes up through the vents in the center (sort of like mini scoops) and not on the left side cowl vent

yes, on the right side of the right "vent" in the center....if you pull it thru where the indentation is in the firewall, it sticks up right there in that larger opening...maybe I`ll get a pic of it here in a few minutes when I go home! tomorrow you should see one in the correct location..

The last pictures were on the money. My 68 has it routed the exact same way. Passenger side does not go through the louvers like the drivers side.

Thanks -- I'd ask my mechanic to do it but now he's busy and it has to wait a week. And since I guess these new door panels need to be drilled and it's not as simple as installing them, I'll have to wait for him to have time to do these as well.

Did I mention I have NO patience?

this is easy to do, even I knew how to, when I did mine 6 yrs ago....
just take the screws out that hold the cowl panel, lift it up, install the nozzle in the groove...install cowl panel back..., put on the hose, you can then direct the spray by adjusting the nozzle tip/end by ending slightly ,if it is not correct to start with...

"patience"...whats that?? I thought thats what doctors had , they sit out there in the waiting room ,waiting patiently! lol

Doesn't the factory nozzle screw to the cowl. Can't find mine right now as I never put them back on but when I removed the cowl the squirters came with it. And if you have the right 1s I can't see how they could be installed wrong with the mounting tab on them and all. Alan

Found the missing box Here are some pics of factory stuff

some do, some dont...not sure which was "factory", but both ways are being seen, maybe depends who worked on them over the years...fuinctions the same either case...
