Default Factory a/c controls 67 GTO

My controls and others that I have seen do not have an A/C or Air setting. Did they just use the vent setting?

I believe mine say "vent inside outside" The inside recirculates the inside air for better cooling, and the outside brings in outside air and cools that. similar to modern methods. The Heat and defrost are to the left of the OFF

My controls are the same. However, when I shut off the car, I can still hear the fan motor running. If I move the switch from "off" to "heater", it shuts off. do you think it a cable needs adjustment?

no on the cable, selector switch needs adjustment, no cable there.

not really it shouldnt get power with ignition switch "off"
High speed has a relay that could be welded closed too.

Where would this relay be? The fan sound is low speed, if that matters.

the lower speeds go thru the resistor thats on top of the blower box.
the high speed comes off the 30 amp inline fuse at the alternator.
High speed relay is next to the a/c box too.
Neither should have power with key off.
make sure your ignition switch is shutting everything off.

Thanks, I'll try to check it out. My ignition switch seems a little "wierd" now, it sometimes doesn't turn over the engine on the 1st try.
