E85 compatable efi fuel pump question
I want to run E85 but am having a hard time finding an affordable efi pump. I called Summit tech line and was told I can only use pumps that are gas/alcohol compatable which are pricey. Anyone else running E85 with an electric fuel pump? I like the Aeromotive A1000 series but was told those are gas only.

The in-tank fuel pump for a 93-95 Taurus 3.0 with Flex Fuel is a good candidate. It is 62 gph @ 0 psi (free-flow) and 95 psi @ 0 gph (shutoff). It is Airtex E2072s or AC-Delco EP438. They are $75 from carparts.com. An email from Airtex confirmed that it is a "flex fuel blend" pump despite it's low price.
Another one is the 93 Lumina with 3.1 with Flex Fuel - w/Ethanol (N15) and Methanol (N14). It is Airtex E3298 (AC-Delco EP334). It is Airtex E3298 or Delco EP 334. It is $154 from rockauto or caparts.com. It is 55 gph free-flow and 95 psi shutoff. |

Just to get the information out there concerning running E85. I called the Aeromotive tech line and was told they have many customers running E85 and have yet to have a failure with any of their pumps. Summit/Jegs etc. specify "gas only" when they advertise the various Aeromotive pumps. The tech guy said pure alcohol can cause problems with a pump that isn't a dual use pump but he said the blend of gas/ethanol doesn't hurt their pumps. He also said some guys use a little top end lube in their fuel for insurance and corrosion protection. He recommended the A1000 series pumps for 500-600 HP application.
