How much does a complete Pontiac engine weigh and who will carry it affordibly?
I've got a 70 WT to check shipping on so I need the approximate weight. It's a complete engine minus exhaust manifolds--it includes complete longblock, timing cover, water pump, some pulleys, alum intake and carb. I've heard Forward Air mentioned, but they don't have a terminal in Idaho. I'm in east Tn and this is going to upper Idaho = 2400 miles away. |

Try R&L Transport, I've shipped a couple engines & lots of parts through them. No crate required, just cheap ratchet straps on a skid. Plus if you don't have a way to take it to a terminal they'll come pick it up. If you'd like I'll hook you up with the email addy to the guy who sets everything up for me. If you want it then PM me.

R&L is who I use also. I have shipped 2 engines and countless bumpers and furniture via R&L Carriers. Check them out at www.gorlc.com
They will pickup and deliver to residential addresses since they have liftgates on all their trucks. Door to door in 3 days. As far as weight, I heard a bare block weighs 160 lbs. Add in the crank, heads, intake, etc for a total plus the skid. I have an R&L commercial account in case you run into trouble with anything. Should be around $350 I'd guess for a charge from TN to Idaho. |
