And how far from the hood was it before the scoop was opened? Could be airflow into the carb was affected. It could also be the vents were being affected and skewing the testing results here. That might explain how two different carbs would act as such,as one carb may have had shorter vent tubes or such. A underhood pic may be of some assistance. |

hmmm..now we're getting close
Ron - you were running just as this car with your old set up. We could try swapping out the 1" open spacer Don't think head porting is in the budget - plus nobody local is qualified. Might try a step up on the cam with new springs and the 3500 convertor. Cheap enough.. I wonder about the trap too He realizes I'm working hard at this and needs to start paying attention to everything! Keep in mind - this car and driver won 2006 Musclepalooza 12.50 class running by feel ![]() screamingchief - it's the pink radial finned top with a drop base air cleaner. Actually - the 950 has been on for all track testing. I took off the 800 when the car was street driven. Picked up about 2" idle vacuum and seat of the pants top end while idle and responce stayed crisp. I tried a 2" spacer but that put the bowl vents in the hood like you say. With the 1" space and aircleaner I put silly putty on he lid and closed the hood. It was crushed to about 1/4" at the front, so clearence is tight - but still a full filter element. We opened the soop before the carb spacer. Open scoop - + 2 jet sizes - + 2 mph 1" spacer - old solid lid filter - no gain open element lid filter, + 1 mph, lower et |
